</de_CENTRALIZED> was created to educate and engage individuals in Web3, Web5 and quantum technologies and this week, in line with our mission we asked Polycarp Nakamoto the following questions:
What is Web5? How will individuals securely own and manage their personal data across platforms without dependency on centralized entities? What technology enables Web5? What hardware do you need to build mesh network?
During our session, we covered:
- Fedimint, a federation of guardians to custody funds;
- DIDs (DecentralizedIdentifiers), a way to identify yourself on the internet without using a central authority, like a government or a company;
- Verifiable credentials (VC), a tamper-proof digital file that contains verified information about a person, organization, or thing;
- Bitcoin, decentralized digital currency.
We approached these questions in interactive, open ended conversation where audience was not only encouraged to ask questions but also to use the tools that form the network.
Those that participated in our prior events know that we do not advertise perks as we prefer the element of surprise and our focus is on education, and this time was no different.
Lucky few participants received $10 worth of Bitcoin each to their brand new wallets.
We ensured that portable, off-grid nodes were on display and used to place peer-to-peer call to illustrate the mesh network in action.
